Adgestone Vineyard, near Sandown on the Isle of Wight. They have ten acres of vines, and a delightful little cafe/restaurant. During the summer months there is live music at the weekend … today it was Chris Quinten on his guitar.
The self-guided tour of the vineyard might not be the ideal choice of activity on a wet and windy day, but I’m glad we did it. It was interesting and informative. The tour finishes inside, in the cellars, then back upstairs for a spot of tasting! They produce four wines from their own grapes (a red, a blush, and two whites) plus several liqueurs (not from the grapes, but delicious).
The owners (Russ & Caroline Broughton) and their team are so friendly and helpful. The lunches are Mediterranean style and very tasty. The wine is delicious! The whole atmosphere is warm and friendly. It was a fantastic afternoon, despite the weather.
